Personnel Changes
Brian Connor
Having worked for W.B.Simpson as “man and boy” initially as an
apprentice terrazzo layer, Brian has now been appointed as a
Director of W.B.Simpson & Sons (Terrazzo) Ltd and will oversee and
manage these projects as well as taking special responsibility for
managing Kengate Terrazzo.
Dipti Kotecha
We welcome Dipti to the company as assistant accountant to David
Barnes and look forward to a positive contribution to the company.
Tony McShane
We would also welcome Tony to the company as a commercial manager to
bolster this department. Tony has worked for us a consultant for a
period before agreeing to join us on a permanent basis.
Peter Saunders
Peter has worked with us for the past 3 years or so as a project
manager at Knightsbridge Station, Wembley Stadium, and up to the
completion of St Pancras International Station. Due to family
commitments he has gone back to Cape Town South Africa, where the
climate is also a little more favourable!
TTA Awards 2007
This year a 40
strong contingent from WBS attended the annual Tile Association
Awards at Solihul on Saturday 21st April 2007 we
collected an award for the ‘Best use of Tile in a Construction
Project’ for our work Wembley National Stadium for Multiplex. We
were also nominated for 6 other categories.
Construction News Awards
We would
like to announce that for the second year running we have been
nominated as a finalist for the Construction News Specialists in
Construction Awards 2007 in the Finishing and Fit-out category held
at the London Hilton Park Lane. We attended with a number of
Directors and senior staff from our major clients in the industry.
We failed to win again but were “Highly Commended” for our efforts.
2007
London Marathon
Director Steve
Medhurst will foolishly be competing at this years event as a runner
for Arthritis Care. Full details can be found on
www.justgiving.com/stevemedhurst if you would like to
contribute. He eventually finished with a calf injury in 4
hours 39 minutes and raised £2,200.00 for the charity.
2012 Olympic Project
We would like to
announce that we have sponsored a young athlete and prospect for the
GB athletic team for the 2012 Olympics. We have agreed a sum of
money towards training and travel costs for the next 3 years with a
review and further funds dependant on progress, and needs.
Sarah Hopkinson,
currently 16 years old, hails from Cheltenham Gloucester, and
principally runs in the 1500m event, but also in 800m and 3000m. She
is currently preparing for the IAAF World Youth Championships to be
held in the Czech Republic later this year, and we wish her the very
best of luck.
